The primary reason SATRA has exclusive access to national caliber
tracks and continues to offer flexible and broad choices of ride locations,
is directly related to the flagging services our club provides to the track
hosts. Last year was a successful, yet nontraditional flagging year due to
the race cancellations on behalf of the rain. But even though there were
some unscheduled breaks, we must still fill all the flagging slots, which is
sometimes a difficult task.
We appreciate and need each and every member to
continue to volunteering their time during the Unadilla Amateur Races and Broome-Tioga
New York Championship Races. The rewards speak for themselves, with the amount of
track time we receive in return. As a reminder, the work days were modified
for each member for a total required of three: two work days must be flagging
and one other workday, such as handling sign-ins at a ride. A
change was made on the membership form this year asking you to select your
flagging days; please take some time and select the days you can flag so we
can start planning for the summer.
